The wind sensor of the WRF 501 consists of a wind wheel which, depending on the wind speed, generates a certain switching frequency which triggers a switching operation in the switching device.
On the top of the rain sensor of the WRF 501 there is a corrosion-resistant sensor plate which is connected to an AC voltage of approx. 5 V. The sensor plate is electrically connected. The sensor plate is electrical so that the electrodes dry quickly, e.g. after a rainfall. If rainwater gets onto the sensor plate, a signal is sent to the wind/rain module and a switching operation is triggered.
The WRF 501 wind/rain sensor must be mounted on the main weather side in an unprotected location (connect lightning protection earth electrode). Various mounting options can be realized with the special accessories. In the event of rain or snowfall as well as wind, a signal is routed to the wind/rain module WR-MOD 501 ( wind/rain module WR-MOD 501; in the SHEV control center).

If the sensor plate of the rain sensor is touched with a slightly moistened hand, a rain message is sent to the switchgear.
