On the top of the RS 401 rain sensor there is a corrosion-resistant sensor plate which is connected to an AC voltage of approx. 24 - 28 V AC/50 Hz. The sensor plate is electrically heated so that the electrodes dry quickly after a rainfall, for example. If rainwater gets onto the sensor plate, a signal is sent to the RM 401/C rain detector and a switching operation is triggered.
The RS 401 rain sensor must be mounted on the main weather side in an unprotected place (connect lightning protection earth). Various mounting options can be realized with the special accessories. When rain or snow starts to fall, a switching signal is sent to the RM 401/C switchgear ( rain detector RM 401/C).
Function control:
If the sensor plate of the rain sensor is touched with a slightly moistened hand, a rain signal is sent to the switching device.
